Things are falling into place

Today was a good day. I got a key to a friends office where I can escape to when I need to study or really get things done. Waahoo! My first hour and a half there among other things I was able to get some things settled for our missions trip. We will be working with YWAM in Taipei. You can view their site by clicking on this sentence.

Also, I will be Mr. Mom the next five days as Jen heads off to a woman's missionary conference. I will keep you posted on how we are doing and if you need to be praying for me or the kids. :-)

Head Start

This morning Jen and I started reading the Bible together and praying before the kids wake up. Definitely a great way to start the day.

Another Day at the Park

Parks are where it is at. At least that is what Jack and Adrianne tell us. We have found living overseas that American's are a little more concerned with safety than the rest of the world. You will often see Japanese people on mopeds with their helmets around their necks which seems to be way less comfortable than actually wearing it on their head.

We discovered a park on the way to base in the fall and have made probably 10 trips there since then. One of the most fun and scary parts at the same time is the 20 foot long, 50 foot wide all cement slide. It's crazy enough for me that I get that funny little feeling in my butt before I take off with Jack or Adrianne. (It's a good thing my grandparents can't read the internet.) I took 20 students there one time and it was crazy. In America it would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. In Japan, it's just another day at the park.

Escape from TODDLERville

Hi everyone...

I know...the whole point of getting a blog is that you're actually supposed to post all these great reflections on life you have on a REGULAR basis. So far, it's been sporadic at best! (And now I can't figure out how to add a new blog and I promised Buddy I would!)

Major Rathmell Highlights:
Psychology class is over and done with...it was awesome. It was so fun for me. I had a blast feeling really connected with high schoolers...it was a learning experience for me (usually when people say that, they mean their experience was horrible, not me)...mostly so, in that I was dealing with mostly non-Christian students (their parents send them to this school so that they learn English) and then I was teaching psychology through the lens of an American and there was only ONE full-American in my class. It made for some bunny-trails that taught me a lot. Below is a picture that one of the students made for me.

In about an hour, Buddy and I are taking our dear friends up on their offer to watch our kids for a couple days. We are escaping the world of primary colors and poopy diapers for some rest and relaxation without our little bundles of joy. Hip Hip Hooray. We are so excited we can hardly stand it.
Other than that, we're moving ahead full-steam. The spring here seems to be rather busy, so we will try really hard to take it slow and not get caught up in such a crazy pace.

There you have it...my "kids". Thanks for praying and so many encouraging words. We are so thankful and grateful.

Lots of love,

Jen for all of us.
